Every year for the past few years, a group of women has come together to create a beautiful event.
Be Her Freedom has seen hundreds of local women frock up to help raise money to fight human trafficking and this year they will do the same- only different!
This year the event will be held at Headlands Hotel on November 10 from 6.30pm-11pm,with organisers saying the shift in location will make access (and buying a ticket) easier.
“There is lots of parking and an ideal function space, so we can expand what has literally been a sell-out event for the last few years,” says Be Hers Founding Director Melody Towns. “We literally couldn’t fit one more person into our previous space, which is an amazing problem to have. The event will be just as beautiful as in previous years, with all the gorgeous styling the event is known for. There will be bubbles, decadent grazing tables, incredible live performers a dance floor like no other and moving messages from a panel of inspiring speakers who have first-hand experience of the issue we are fighting.”
This year’s dress code is ‘A little shimmer, a little shine or whatever makes you feel beautiful..”
“It’s a fun night out with your girlfriends,” says Melody, “and the chance to get dressed up for a cause that moves you to your core.”
The event aims to raise awareness and money for the fight against human trafficking. It also aims to place a value on women, and encourage us to use our freedom to fight for the freedom of those who’ve had theirs stolen.
100% of funds raised goes to the A21 Campaign and the She Rescue Home to continue their groundwork in the fight against slavery.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
The support of the ‘Be Hers Illawarra’ events has seen an A21 child advocacy centre set up in Thailand. The advocacy centre works with the Royal Thai Police rescuing children from sex trafficking, begging and forced labour and then fights for their justice. This has been an amazing initiative that includes the establishment of a hotline for those escaping human trafficking.
