This Saturday sees the best surfers south of Sydney come together for a Battle Royale.
The annual surf comp has once again been organised by the team from Thirroul’s DP Surfboards with owner Dylan Perese saying this year’s comp will be the best yet.
” We have 32 of the area’s best surfers lined up for the main event, with the best women and juniors.
“There will be plenty of fun on the beach too, with giveaways all day from great brands including DP Surfboards and Ocean and Earth. There will also be food stalls and coffee carts, and live music as the crowds enjoy watching first-class surfing.”
Dylan says the event has really gained momentum over the years, with this year’s prize pool in excess of $6000.
“We have learned a lot from previous events,” he says. “This year we also have more endorsements because the event is becoming well-known on the surfing calendar.
“Running the Battle Royale is such a great experience. I love working with community groups such as Disabled Surfers, and schools including Illawarra Sports High. We put in 100% so this event is fantastic for the surfers, and for the spectators.”
Competition finals are expected to start around 3pm with the women’s and juniors comps straight finals.
At this stage the event will most likely be held at Stanwell Park or Coledale, depending on the swell.
