Doug Simkin is also a keen photographer and local historian currently working on the Illawarra Heritage trail.
His work will be on display at Clifton School of Arts on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November, from 9am until 6.30pm.
As a further example of his creative talents, each of the frames used in the exhibition has been handmade by Doug, using recycled hardwood timber including spotted gum, blackbutt and merbau.
There will also be a selection of bowls on display, made from Australian timbers that Doug has turned on his lathe.
Doug’s use of recycled timber frames in this exhibition coincides with national recycling week, this week.
Clifton School of Arts is a few hundred metres south of the Sea Cliff Bridge.
Parking is available via the side street next to the school at a small park with a children’s playground.
