Illawarra Festival Of Wood will be held at Bulli Showground on Friday October 6 and Saturday October 7.
The event has been organised by Austinmer’s Suzanne and Stuart Montague of the Illawarra Woodwork School, which has taught so many locals a thing or two about the joy of timber!
They’ve teamed up with Japanese Tools Australia to host this festival, which showcases a variety of wood related crafts, wood artisans and wood-related industries including
- Spoon carving
- traditional toolmakers
- timber surfboard makers
- basket weaving
- timber millers
“We see this festival as a way of strengthening ad building the wood artisan community and celebrating working with timber, as well as creating long-term strategy to preserve and inspire the tradition of working with wood.
Also in attendance will be the South Coast Woodchopper Association, a chainsaw sculptor and timber mill demonstrations.
There will be working demonstrations at each stall throughout the day, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty!
