Stanwell Park’s biggest annual festival- The Festival of Flight- will be held on Sunday November 12 and this year once again includes a fly-over of incredible historic planes.
The Festival, at Stanwell Park Reserve, celebrates Stanwell Park as the “Birthplace of Flight” where Australia’s aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave became the first man in Australia to fly a miraculous “16 feet” using his specially designed box kites on 12 November 1894.
There will also be fantastic live entertainment, historic displays and market and food stalls.
The festival starts at 10am at Stanwell Park Reserve.
At 1pm there will be a fly past from some of the historic planes held by the Historic Aviation Restoration Society (HARS) at Albion Park.
The Stanwell Park Branch of CWA is the driving force behind this festival with support from Wollongong City Council, HARS and the Lawrence Hargrave Centre.
