Radio and TV broadcaster Susie Elelman will speak at Thirroul Library this Saturday, spilling the beans with some TV-style gossip!
Susie is best known as the roving reporter working alongside Bert Newton on Good Morning Australia. She also hosted ‘Susie’ on the WIN Network for several years, she’s been a weekly guest on Seven’s ‘The Morning Show” and also appears on Network Ten’s morning talk program ‘Studio 10’
She’s here for an informal chat about her impressive media career- as well as her latest book ’15 Minutes of Fame: The Dark Underbelly of Celebrity’.
Susie says she’ll dish the dirt on the divas, the bad boys and those a little too precious, as well as a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into the world of Australian show business.
“I tell the stories and I name the names,” she laughs. “My publisher took some out to protect the guilty, but in my author talks, I still name the names!
“It’s not in print, so as long as people swear to secrecy, I’ll tell the secrets!”
Susie is no stranger to Wollongong, having lived at Towradgi and North Gong for almost 20 years- including while she worked on Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton!
“Because I lived down here I would do a lot of stories about the region,” she says.
“One of my favourites centred on DH Lawrence’s house in Thirroul,” says Susie. “and a painting done by artists Brett Whitely and Gary Shead which featured on the cover of the book ‘Kangaroo”.
After Saturday’s event, you’ll probably see Susie ducking in and out of doors along Lawrence Hargrave Drive!
“I love to see shows at Anita’s Theatre,” says Susie, ” and I love a good shop in Thirroul! There aren’t many places left with independent retailers, so the clothes shopping is fantastic!”
You can hear Susie speak at Thirroul Library from 11am on Saturday March 30.
