This Saturday is the highlight of the dancing year for many local families, as the Thirroul Dance Academy Annual Revue hits the stage at Wollongong’s IPAC Theatre- and it’s bigger than Ben Hur!
After a year of lessons at the Thirroul studios, including several all-day rehearsals, more than 400 dancers aged between three and 63 will take to the stage. Each one is practiced, primped and preened to showcase their skills, their smiles and their love of dance, and they’re ready to deliver a fantastic showcase.
Backstage, a team of 80 supportive parents will dress, organise, direct, and find lost shoes…. so it all runs smoothly for the children and the audience!
TDA owner Katie Reid says the concert is going to be memorable for performers, helpers and members of the audience.
“It’s exhausting but also fantastic,” says Katie. “As always, the 2017 concert will be entertaining with a great diversity of dance styles. There will be lots of smiles and plenty of fun both on and off the stage!”
In the meantime, bags are being packed, spare tights collected, pins, sprays and red lipsticks sorted, in readiness for Saturday’s events which includes a dress rehearsal then two performances, all on the one day!
