Out the back of the Bulli Community Centre is a patch of land- it’s the Bulli Community Garden.
A group of passionate volunteers is working to get the garden off the ground and they’re ready to welcome anyone who wants to be a part of this exciting new venture.
Centre management with the support of Wollongong Council has initiated the public green space, suitable for growing eatables.
To kick-start the garden, “The Planting” will be held tomorrow, Sunday 11 February between 9-10am.
The purpose of this event is to engage and share the vision with members of the local community. Anyone interested will then help shape and progress the garden.
The vision for the community garden? A friendly gathering greenspace, suitable for a diverse community to grow and share edibles.
Permaculture experts have already assisted in the early stages of design and the garden is just starting to take shape. How the garden evolves will depend on the community support. Ongoing working-bees have been set to meet on the 1st Sunday of every month in 2018.
Locals are invited to come and explore Bulli Community Garden, set alongside the Community Centre at 328 Princes Hwy Bulli.
Plus, the centre has received permission for a café style coffee-van to sit near the garden later in the year. It’s an exciting time for locals to get involved, get our hands dirty, and watch things grow and flourish. To find out more see https://www.facebook.com/gardenbulli/
