Sage McAteer is a star on the rise. With a twinkle in his eye, he’s confident and mature beyond his years.
Sage has already performed lead roles in his Bulli High School musical, appeared on Home and Away, been performing in Stanwell Park Arts Theatre productions since he was 11, plays an array of instruments, and wrote and directed his first play when he was in Year 6!
Stanwell Park Arts Theatre has been fostering the talent of this devoted young man, and has now given him responsibility for the Christmas pantomime.
The 16 year old Stanwell Park local has written and will direct the Stanwell Park Arts Theatre’s Christmas Pantomime ‘Miss Lily’s Holiday Home’.
“Sage has a high degree of originality,” says SPAT spokesman Cameron Campbell. “He’s an emerging talent who already has a robust career.”
“I have recently been taken on by a theatre agent,” says Sage. “I’d really like to pursue acting on both TV and in movies, and have already done a bit of extra work.”
“I have been in a lot of SPAT’s shows, and decided I really wanted to write and direct ” says Sage. “So this is a remarkable opportunity.
“Miss Lily’s Holiday Home’ is a children’s show with adult jokes,” he laughs. “A group of kids are spending the holidays at Miss Lily’s but the villain ‘Scarlet’, who lives in the Stanwell Park mushroom tunnel, steals Christmas. It’s a battle between good and evil,” he laughs.
Sage will also direct the show, which sees him responsible for 20 cast members ranging in age from seven through to 60.
“I’d love to write and direct more shows,” says Sage, “but I have to do my HSC. So until that’s over I will have to pull back a bit.”
Miss Lily’s Holiday House will be performed at Stanwell Park CWA Hall on Saturday December 9 Sunday December 10 Then December 15- 16 and 17.
