If you have loads of junk you never use, or if you want to buy someone else’s junk, this could be your lucky weekend.
This Saturday (October 22) is the Garage Sale Trail, to encourage local families to reuse and recycle, rather than sending all their unwanted things to landfill. Wollongong Council is right behind the initiative.
So far, there are 318 Garage Sales planned within a 40 kilometre radius of the Northern Illawarra.
It’s part of a national, sustainable living movement to reduce illegal dumping, encouraging people to declutter and even help organisations (and families) raise money. It’s also a great way to meet the neighbours.
Last year there were more than 13,000 Garage sales across Australia and the average household took in $300. So far this year, more than 15,000 Garage sales have been registered.
Registration is free and open to all households, local businesses, and community groups at www.garagesaletrail.com.au
