Known for their commitment to our local community, Bohmer’s Tree Care has provided a boost for a local charity.
“In return for mulch, we are now asking our customers to make a donation to Need a Feed,” says Bohmer. “Every now and then we all need a helping hand. When I came to Australia I had nothing, but it’s been good to me and now I have all I need so I want to give back where I can. “
Bohmer also helped at the recent ‘packing day’ at Bulli, where all the collected items are bundled prior to distribution.
“Shaz and the team are wonderful people who need all the assistance they can get to help families in our community who are struggling.
Need a Feed’s Shaz Harrison-Shaw says she’s thankful Bohmer’s has chosen to partner with her charity. “It’s a great initiative,” she says. “Every little bit helps.”
Shaz has been busy in recent weeks with the new Need a Feed coffee cart making its presence felt in Crown Street Mall.
The new venture has been set up in Globe Way selling $1 coffee and $1 muffins to people who would otherwise have to go without- and Wollongong Council is wrapped!
“Feedback from both the community and retailers has been supportive,” says a Council spokesman. “Through the establishment of the Safer City Working Group, Wollongong City Council, Wollongong Central and local police are working together to provide a positive and welcoming place for visitors to the City Centre.
“Community safety is a key component as it supports both vibrancy within the public domain and the local economy. As a result, there has been increased security and police presence in the Mall to promote the area as a space that doesn’t support anti-social behaviour, where smoking and skateboarding is not permitted.
“Globe Way is being promoted as an area where the whole community can meet and socialise within a safe environment. Feedback from both the community and retailers has been positive and supportive of this approach.”
