Work starts Monday (August 24) on the refurbishment of Thirroul Beach kiosk and pavilion, and will continue right throughout Spring and Summer.
The existing building has been there since it’s opening in 1940 and is starting to show signs of age.
Not only is it suffering from erosion, but poor drainage has weakened the floors and caused cracking and rising damp.
Council will keep the heritage- essence of the existing building, but
take this opportunity to alter the layout. Apparently there’s a residence in the building. That will be removed to create a new entry and more dining space.
The work will also make the kiosk more accessible to the disabled, and those with prams and mobility aides.
