The community continues to rally behind the family of much-loved local Cat Cowie.
Young mum Cat collapsed and died suddenly last October, from what doctors now know to be a ruptured aneurism in her aorta, leaving behind her husband Brendan and baby boy Ryan.
Cat, from Stanwell Tops, was a much-loved member of Hope Church in Helensburgh, and worked as a fitness instructor at EnVie in Woonona.
She was such a treasured community member, more than 1200 people turned out to her funeral.
In a bid to support Brendan and Ryan as they face life without Cat, a fundraising night has been organised at the Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow on Saturday April 2.
Cat’s sister Carolyn (who is married to Brendan’s brother), says the night will celebrate everything Cat loved, including the ocean and the colour blue. “We’ll have a three-course dinner, as well as raffles and auctions, to raise money to help the boys move forward,” she says. “There will also be a display of Irish dancing as my sister and I used to do it when we were younger. A friend we danced with is now a teacher so she’s putting together a performance in honour of Cat.”
Brendan has written a song as a tribute to Cat which he will perform, and the singles will also be available on the night.
More than 600 people are expected to attend the event. You can book your ticket or contact the organisers to donate raffle items HERE
