Through the process of improvisational collaboration, a group of young dancers from the Austinmer Dance Theatre will presents an evening of intimately diverse contemporary dance – ‘Critical Shift’ is an in depth analysis of expectation within modern society. Exploring the struggle caused by the confines of social expectations upon the individual and society as a whole is investigated as social norms are challenged.!!
“Critical Shift will be Austinmer Dance Theatre’s first full-length work and we are pleased to welcome Paul Russell to our group of talented dancers.” said Michelle Forte, Director “Paul completed four years training at The Royal Ballet School in London followed by one year with Royal New Zealand Ballet before taking a break from dancing and becoming a student at Wollongong University. We are extremely excited to have Paul with us as he contemplates a return to the stage!”
Critical Shift is shaping up to be our strongest work to date… choreography has been developed through the process of Improvisational Collaboration with the dancers playing an integral part in the content of the work, keeping the choreography fresh, alive & unique.
