Wollongong Writers Festival kicks off tonight (August 19) at the Cabbage Tree Hotel in Fairy Meadow.
First up is author Ashley Hay to talk about her sixth novel The Railwayman’s Wife, which is set in Thirroul and the Northern Illawarra. The Railwayman’s Wife won the Colin Roderick Prize and was the People’s Choice Award for the NSW Premier’s Prize. .
It’s a lovely story, and also a delight to be so familiar with the setting of the book, which includes current streets and landmarks.

Ashley will be ‘in conversation’ with Kate Evans at Fairy Meadow’s Cabbage Tree Hotel on Friday August 19 from 6pm.
