The Northern Illawarra is a hive of activity as we begin the downhill slide to the Christmas holidays.
Work has begun in earnest at Austinmer to re-surface the large southern grassy area, with much of the newly-widened path already in place.
According to a Wollongong Council spokesperson, the lower car park and viewing platform have been opened to the public.
“Installation of site-specific artwork has commenced with the tiling of seat walls in the plaza and bench seating on the observation deck,” he says.
“The new public amenities building is now being fitted out, as is the new coffee shop! Site servicing and landscaping are also nearing completion.”
Council called for tenders in June. The lease for the coffee shop has been awarded to Rhett and Jarrod Davis from The Bald Hill Company. It’s believed this is the same family which currently operates the food fan at Bald Hill.
