Now here’s a fundraiser most people will be interested in!
Scarborough Wombarra Surf Club will hold its annual Beer Tasting at the surf club in Monash Street Wombarra on Saturday February 10.
With a selection of boutique beers and ciders supplied by Thirroul Cellars for your enjoyment, the night looks like being another success.
There will be live music as
patrol member Rowena Ivers performs with her group ‘Misty Hills’ , which Club President Bindi Adams says have a ‘folky, jazzy, pop-rock vibe!’
“We are so lucky to have the support of Rory and Jacqui from Thirroul Cellars,” says Bindi. “And Anthony Ritter has given us a skydive from Skydive The Beach as one of the raffle prizes. Other local businesses have also been incredibly supportive, including Pap Joe’s Fruit and deli, Thirroul Central Chemist, DP Boardroom, Finbox, Taylors and Ibah Spa all contributing raffle prizes.
“The beer tasting is the biggest event on our calendar and without a doubt our largest fundraiser. We are hoping to access some grant money to improve our facilities, which will help our club, Scarborough Boardriders and beachgoers, but we will need more.
“We are hoping to add hot-water showers, a place for Nippers to change, a more comfortable work environment for our lifeguard, and a few alterations to make the club more user-friendly for people wanting to hire the facilities.
“All of this takes money, so we are hoping the Beer-Tasting is the success it has been in previous years!”
Tickets are $25pp. Ryan’s Hotel Courtesy Bus will be on hand at the end of the night for those who want to head into Thirroul. This is an over 18’s event. For more information have a look HERE
