Local mum Natasha Woodnutt has been selected as a finalist in the regional category of the 2017 AusMumpreneur Awards.
The awards recognise women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family, celebrating celebrate and recognising Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in product development, customer service and digital innovation.
Natasha is managing director of Bohmer’s Tree Care and says being named a finalist is a significant honour.
“We pride ourselves on our professional and safety standards as well as our encouragement to women to enter the industry. We are regularly contacted by women who are keen to ‘learn the ropes’ of the trade within the safe and supportive work environment that we have created.
“We have recently taken on our first female grounds worker and have two other brilliant local mums working with us in the business. We also contract services out to other local mums in business.”
Natasha says some days can be challenging. ”Running a business, particularly a family business, from home in regional Australia comes with its own set of challenges such as isolation, access to industry support, training and education opportunities,” she says.
“It can also be difficult to access suitably qualified and experienced staff who aren’t lured by the bigger pay packets of the city. However I get to live in a beautiful part of the world and spend time with my family, including my 6 month old baby Grace and 4 year old son Patrick.
“The business has also created a range of wonderful community connections and my advice to anyone starting a business – particularly a mum running a family home-based business – is to have a good support network around you and surround yourself with other business-minded mums, as they become your inspiration and motivation.
“And no matter how hard it gets, don’t lose sight and don’t give up!”
The winners of the 2017 AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at a glamorous awards dinner at Doltone House in Sydney this week, Friday August 25 following the annual two day AusMumpreneur Conference.
