The fortnightly ‘Bombie’ bar and music venue at the Surf Lifesaving Club has been shut down by Wollongong Council following a noise complaint. Now the community is uniting to re-open one of the Northern Illawarra’s premier live music venues.

In the meantime, the Coalcliff SLSC is feeling the pinch.
Money raised by the Bombie Bar was used to fund rescue equipment for Coalcliff SLSC. Now, that’s all stopped.
So the organisers are holding this event at Anita’s. All money raised will be used to purchase equipment and to support the club’s usual activities as a replacement for the funds previously earned by the bar,
Club President Leo Stevens says so far there have been no expenses incurred in the fight to have the Bombie re-opened. “All work done so far has been pro bono,” he says. “In the event the club decides to put through a DA to restart the Bombie Bar, we will almost certainly need additional fundraising at that time.”
The fundraiser will be held on Thursday March 30 at Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul. The show will star Thirsty Merc, The Strides, The Rising Sun and a special guest, ‘Kerrbox’ from TV show Bondi Rescue.
Tickets are $40 and are now on sale HERE
