Preparations are underway for one of the most glamorous nights on the Northern Illawarra social calendar.
Be Her Freedom’s annual fundraising gala will be held at the Coledale Rainforest Retreat from 6.30pm on Saturday November 5, and once again, it’s going to be unbelievable.
Last year’s event raised almost $40,000 and it’s hoped this year’s will raise even more.
All the expenses have been covered by supporters and local businesses so 100% of ticket sales and money raised on the night goes directly to help stamp out human trafficking .
The team of ten incredible local women is working tirelessly to ensure the event is bigger and better every year.
Team member, Wombarra’s Lisa Brooke says it’s a fantastic excuse to glam-up and come together with other women for a great cause.
“We have a performance by the Austinmer Dance Theatre, a magician and dancing,” says Lisa. ” We even have a lolly bar!
“There will be an interactive art installation, a silent auction with plenty of incredible treasures, and you’ll spend the night in a beautiful location, surrounded by amazing local women.
“So wear something that makes you feel beautiful and come along for a great night!”

Be Her Freedom aims to help put a stop to human trafficking, by supporting the international A21 organisation. “Human trafficking is modern day slavery, says Lisa, “and it’s the fastest growing crime in the world.”
“There is an estimated 27 million people currently being held against their will in manual and sexual labour. We want to be a part of stopping this crime, which deprives men, women and children of their basic rights.”
“A21 works on the front line of human trafficking,” says Lisa.” They focus on prevention, prosecution, partnership and protection. They also educate law enforcement and lawyers to ensure traffickers are prosecuted, and work to rehabilitate survivors. A21 also partner with child welfare organisations to help rehabilitate young victims.”
