Mitchell Gordon, a health care worker and former director of New South Wales’ AIDS Council, was elected and installed as president of the Bulli & Northern Illawarra Rotary Club last month.
Mr Gordon is well-known for his charity work in the Illawarra and has been a Rotarian since 2011. His most recent role with the Club was as public relations director, which he held for a year.
“Our Rotary Club has made a significant contribution to the community since the 1940s,” Mr Gordon said. “It is both an honour and a privilege to lead the Bulli and Northern Illawarra Rotary Club, and I look forward to working with the Club’s members to achieve as much as we possibly can.”
In addition to his work with Rotary International, Mr Gordon is an active member of Wollongong City Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee, and was recently elected to serve on the Illawarra Historical Society’s Board of Management. He also has a sponsor child in Kenya, financially supports New South Wales’ Cancer Council and The Heart Institute each month, and is an Amnesty International Human Rights Defender.
The Rotary Club of Bulli & Northern Illawarra meets on Monday evenings in the Bulli Community Centre.
