After recent successes at the Helensburgh Workers Club with markets, and the upcoming Mama Tree Business Expo this weekend, July sees the beginning a new annual tradition with the inaugural Food and Wine Festival, including markets and entertainment for the whole family, sponsored by Metropolitan Coal.
“We’ve done markets before, but we’ve never added the food and wine aspects.” said Andrew Stewart, manager at the Workers Club, “All the markets will be located on the sports fields behind the club, with a kids area near tennis courts including petting zoo, face painting and Rural & NSW Fire Brigade fire trucks. We’ll have around 60 market stalls and we are keen for local businesses to participate.”
The event will feature wine from five providers including Rothbury Wine, Tyrrells Wine, Wild Oats, Fussy Grape and Razorback Ridge, available to sample with an engraved wine tasting glass for just $10. Carlton will be providing the beers, joined by Jim Beam and Canadian Club. Entertainment will be on the balcony featuring Jackie Dee and Triple Karma. There will be some terrific food stalls courtesy of Sauce Bar & Grill along with Mexican, Soup and Prawn Plates.
“We would like to build the event to become a well know community festival that will occur this time each year. We will be raising funds for the Cancer Council and the invitation is open to local businesses to participate.”
Current stalls include; Exquisite Candles & Gifts, Fun Tatts, Dandy Lion Jewellery, Toys for Me, Mini Donuts, Matildas Farmyard, Monkey & Chicken, Penny Love, Megan’s Crystals, Cates Corner, Megabatch, Polly & Molly, Ness’s Crochet Emporium, Delightfully Turkish, Feelings Handcrafted Jewellery, Model Cars, Eric Hahn Photography, snowcones/Dutch Pancakes, Amanda Moulder, Jam it!
