Wollongong Council will upgrade picnic and barbecue facilities at Charles Harper Park in Helensburgh later this year.
The existing BBQ no longer works – so council has planned to replace it to coincide with a refurbishment to the park’s picnic facilities.
Acting Wollongong Lord Mayor John Dorahy says the work will give Helensburgh residents space to relax and meet with family and friends.
“It makes sense, funding wise, to refurbish the area around the BBQ at the same time as we upgrade other nearby parts of the park,” he says. ” The plans include a graded pathway to the equal-access toilets, improvements to the picnic facilities and a new paved area.”
The work is planned for completion late 2017. Notifications will be placed in the park before the work starts.
