Wollongong Council has agreed to look into the use of Eagle Eye devices to rid Helensburgh Pool of ducks.
The Coalition Against Duck Shooting has written to Council, calling for a more humane treatment of the native Australian Wood Ducks who frequent the pool.
Currently, the birds are trapped and euthanised by a contractor.
In it’s letter, they’ve requested Council consider the use of the passive bird deterrents.

Council has responded, with a spokesman saying they will explore the option of an Eagle-Eye device to deter the ducks.
He says council officers are also working collaboratively with WIRES who this week have visited the pool. “WIRES now has an understanding of the complexity of the situation,” he says. “They are providing guidance on trapping and relocating the juvenile ducks.”
