An application has been lodged with Wollongong Council to extend the new Headlands Hotel in Austinmer.
The application states that as the business has been open for some months, operators have identified the need for minor alterations and additions to the Tavern.
Developer MMJ Wollongong is confident the modifications will improve the appearance and the functionality of the business.
These additions include an additional food preparation area in the Basement level, an extension to the ground floor level on the eastern side of the lounge area to provide additional kitchen space and the installation of solid roofing over the external terraces on both the north and eastern sides. The additions will add another 40 square meters of gross floor area.
Developers stress the changes will have minimal environmental impact, and say while the appearance of the building will be altered slightly, the renovations will make for more useable tavern space for visitors and tourists all year round.
The plans are on exhibition on Council’s website until August 30.
