We all knew it was coming, now, the RMS has announced the dates for the next scheduled closure of Bulli Pass
It will close again in August.
Roads and Maritime Service has announced that’s when work will start to complete the installation of that rock fall protection fencing.
The Pass will close between Monday August 28 and Friday November 3. It will however be open in both directions for the October long weekend (Friday September 29- Tuesday October 3).
Around 500 meters of fencing will be installed while the road is closed.
The RMS stands firm on its stance that closing the road is the safest option for workers, saying opening the pass for peak periods will double the work time.
The Pass was re-opened three times during the last closure when serious truck accidents closed Mt Ousley, causing gridlock throughout the Illawarra. The RMS says, as before, they will continue to work closely with contractors to ensure the road is reopened as quickly as possible during any possible incidents.
