Calling all folk musicians: the deadline for applying to play at the state’s biggest folk festival is fast approaching.
Artists have until 30 May to apply to play at the 29th Illawarra Folk Festival, which will be held at Bulli Showground over four days from January 16-19, 2014.
The festival will feature a sensational line-up of folk, world, acoustic, Celtic, bluegrass and gypsy music, as well as poetry, dances, workshops, parades and sessions.
“We are getting ever-increasing artist interest to perform at our festival so we are looking to minimise the effort for acts to apply and add to the diversity of music that people will hear,” said festival Artistic Director David De Santi.
“This year the festival is looking for folk musicians who will be involved not only in concerts but also sessions, sing-alongs, workshops, theme concerts, dances and children’s events.
“We will also be holding our annual Folk Music School during the festival and are looking for experienced tutors who have a passion for their music. Artists who are interested in performing on the Green Music Train which will run from Sydney to Bulli should also apply before the May 30 deadline”.
