The discovery of a hunting arrow on a property in residential Helensburgh last week has raised concerns over public safety in the Northern Illawarra.
There are ongoing reports of hunters operating in the region, now fears are heightened as there is evidence a cross-bow has been used close to local homes.
According to Wollongong Council, it is illegal to hunt deer on private property without the consent of the owner. It is also illegal to hunt deer on land that is managed by a state agency or on Council-managed land.
Anyone who has knowledge of illegal hunting should contact NSW Police.
