The repairs to Helensburgh Pool have come at a cost to one Helensburgh business.
Crawchy’s Swim School has been using the pool for 12 years – but says with the pool closed, their squads will be grounded.
Owner Mel Whiteside says she received no notification of the impending closure- reading about it on social media!
Given no time to prepare or to notify students, Mel is hoping the repairs will be carried out in the scheduled two weeks so her 130 kids can get back in the water.
“I have been told I can use Thirroul Pool instead,” says Mel, “but my insurance doesn’t cover that. Also with Bulli Pass closed it’s a long trip AND the water is still very cold so it really isn’t a workable option.
Mel says the pool has to be emptied and the pipes have to dry before the work can be competed- then the pool re-filled with tap water, which will then take time to warm up.
“Fingers crossed it’s as simple as they’re hoping,” she says, “and we can all get back in the water before the beginning of Summer.”
