Flame Tree Co-op’s fundraising appeal is entering its final days – and they’re still more than $20,000 short of the target.
If they are not pledged a total of $78,000 they will lose the lot!
The Thirroul-based community food co-op has already signed the lease on the new premises, and given notice on their existing lease. You can read that full story HERE.
A spokesman for the co-op says they were facing a rent increase, with no space to add in a badly-needed freezer, so they’ve committed to moving across the road into a larger shop.
“The move carries a number of risks,” they’ve said in a statement to members. ” There are unavoidable expenses related to making the premises food-safe and obtaining permission to occupy it and trade.
“Beyond that the fit out will cost money, even with the donations of materials and labour we have already been able to secure.”
The co-op has started a Pozible campaign so will only receive the funds promised IF they reach the fundraising target. You can make a donation or buy one of the donated items, in support of the campaign. Have a look HERE
