The Thirroul Academy of Music Dance Drama was established in Thirroul in 2004 by Ruth and Barney Ellevsen, and since its inception, the Academy has grown to be the largest privately owned academy in the Illawarra.
“She was always singing in the car along to the radio, remembering all the words and the tune.” says Greg. “I believed it was too early to start singing lessons so I wanted Sienna to start piano as a foundation for singing later down the track.”
“Her favourite thing about coming to music lessons here is that she loves playing the piano, the tutors here are all friendly and kind and she loves getting chocolate bars from all the merit tickets she gets!” Students receive a merit ticket for completing a piece of music or grasping a particular concept or idea, with each merit ticket accompanied by a kid-size chocolate bar! Five merit tickets earns a larger merit certificate and the student with the most merit certificates at the end of the year receives a free term’s tuition.
When asked what she want’s to do with music when she grows up, Sienna replied “I want to go on stage and play piano and sing at the same time.”
This coming Saturday, Thirroul Academy is opening it’s studios to offer interested students a free twenty-minute music lesson, either in singing, piano, guitar, bass, drums or woodwind. It’s a chance for people to come in and experience a music lesson, meet the team and see what Thirroul Academy can offer in terms of quality music tuition, with no obligation to enrol!
Anyone interested in taking up this free offer will need to call and make a booking, either on 4268 5033 or via Facebook; https://www.facebook.com/musicdancedrama
