The impact of the drought has hit hard.
We are now being made aware of the crisis facing so many Aussie farmers- some in the Illawarra- some just over the escarpment, who are struggling to feed livestock -and- their families.
Many campaigns have been set up nationwide, giving us a variety of ways to contribute to this rural crisis.
Here are a couple of things you can do this weekend to ease the burden…
- Mayberry Farm Go Fund Me- you can read all about that HERE.
Basically, the fourth-generation Burrawang farmers are doing it tough and need help to keep their three hundred and twenty four cows fed- and the farm alive!
2. Parma For A Farmer
Although there don’t seem to be any local restaurants supporting the farmers this way, there are plenty of places across the Illawarra offering the farmers a dollar from the sale of every chicken parmigiana.
The closest option appears to be the Cabbage Tree Hotel at Fairy Meadow or North Gong Hotel. If you know of others closer- please leave a message at the bottom of the page.
3. All profits from sales in the fresh department at Woolworths Bulli, Corrimal and Fairy Meadow and supermarkets nationwide, this Saturday, August 11, will be donated to Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale appeal in support of farmers impacted by the drought.
4. The Commonwealth Bank is supporting the Rural Aid Buy a Bale campaign.
Buy a Bale at your nearest branch with the money going to the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners
