Here’s a chance to tell the RMS what you think about closing Lawrence Hargrave Drive while they carry out maintenance.
At the moment, Lawrence Hargrave Drive is closed for a couple of days every six months down Bald Hill, however work is needed on drainage and slope-stability at Stanwell Park so that could mean closures every three or four months.
They say closing the road is important for safety reasons.
“We have had a few instances of workers being injured while working under traffic,” says an RMS spokesperson. “This is a risk we cannot take . It is our priority for all workers to go home every day after their shifts.”
The RMS says the majority of this time the closure would be for one day and one night, however, sometimes it could need two days or nights.
The next closure is planned for early 2018
“We understand the closure creates an inconvenience as the detour between Stanwell Park and Helensburgh is significant,” says a spokesman, “so the RMS would like to work with the community to minimise the impact of the closure.”
They’ve developed an online survey to gather community feedback on the closure through Stanwell Park.
