Noticed increased truck movements through Helensburgh this week?
As work continues on Bald Hill, Council has started taking the excavated soil to the former Helensburgh tip.
Council has limited the truck movements to between 7-8am and 9.30am-2.30pm on weekdays, then between 8.15am and 1pm on Saturdays.
The soil has been classified Virgin Excavated Natural Material.
The old tip remains closed to the public.
Meanwhile, council says the works are progressing as planed.
New stormwater drains have been installed under Lady Wakehurst Drive, and work continues on road widening, building a roundabout and adding extra parking.
The old amenities building has been demolished in readiness for the new toilets and cafe to be built. This should be finished by next year.
There are also temporary changes at the site:-
- The recently reconstructed car park is closed between 6pm-6am, and under traffic control during daytime.
- There is single lane – temporary traffic light controlled – access on Lady Wakehurst Drive until October 2015, weather permitting.
