A huge weekend in local Rugby League with the Helensburgh Tiger Lillies playing for their sixth Premiership title.
The girls have only lost one Grand Final. That was last year, and Saturday gives them the opportunity to claim it back when they take on Corrimal at Collegians ( September 3 – kick off at 12.20pm).
Helensburgh captain Erin Blackwell says the girls are feeling great, they’re excited, and they’re ready to go!
“We have really strong individual players,” says Erin, “But our real strength is we work so well as a team.
“Corrimal has a few fast girls, and a few experienced girls, so we will be working hard to shut them down.
“We are determined to play hard and win back the title they took from us last year.”
Club president Col Doran says the girls certainly have the rungs on the board. “We are feeling quietly confident,” he says. “We have some of the best players in Australia, including Kezie Apps, who is arguably the best, so we are certainly in the mix to take out fifth premiership in six years.”
