The Hope Church are holding their food pantry event each Friday from 1-3pm at Cemetery Road in Helensburgh.
The aim of the food pantry is to help low incomes families who are struggling to put food on the table, for whatever reason. While it is only a new incentive the organisers believe it will continue to grow as people become aware of this service.
Hope Church is a community focused organisation helping those who sometimes need a hand with day to day living expenses, helping single parents and low income earners and those who just need that little bit of assistance from time to time.
At present there are 22 families that access the food pantry on a Friday – the Church provide some nice food coffee and tea and the chance to have a chat, in a friendly non judgemental environment.
Pastor Briga Rattenbury who leads the ministry and organisation has stated that “We want to be a church that makes a practical difference although we are a Christian organisation we show our Christianity rather than speak about it there is no pressure to join the Church and people’s privacy and views are respected this is all about lending a hand and caring for those around us.”
“The feedback from the food pantry has been positive and uplifting, with one mother saying she looks forward to Friday as her children get to have fresh fruit and vegetables to eat.”
“Helping people around our community feel cared for is what the Hope church aims to do with the Friday food pantry. Giving those in need a hand up, not a hand out.”
