Police are appealing for witnesses after a deer was shot and dismembered at Stanwell Park this week.
Gunshots were heard in Stanwell Park early Thursday morning and a dismembered deer left on the side of Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
Police are keen to find the people responsible.
They have been told a small, possibly black sedan was seen parked near the intersection of Railway Street and Lawrence Hargrave Drive and two men were involved.
They say one man allegedly had a machete, which he used to cut up the carcass of a deer.
One of the men is believed to have been wearing a red and black checked shirt and a kaki hunting cap while the other had a grey hooded cap.
Anyone who saw anything or has more information is being encouraged to contact Wollongong Police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000
The men took photos, then headed up Bald Hill.
