Scarborough Station is about to get a facelift.
Letters have been sent to all nearby residents saying next year, the over-rail bridge on First Street will have a make-over, which includes new anti-throw screens and anti-traffic barriers.
The new screens aim to stop vehicles crashing onto the rail corridor, objects being thrown onto the track, people attempting self-harm form the bridge and vandals trespassing on Sydney Trains land.
According to a letter sent to neighbouring residents, the traffic barriers and anti-throw screens will be galvanised steel while the protection screens will be wire mesh.
A bit of noise and traffic disruption is expected while the work is carried out but the bridge will remain open.
Exact dates are yet to be announced.
