A new exhibition has opened at Wollongong Art Gallery, which has strong links to the Northern Illawarra
The TV Show has been curated by Daniel Mudie Cunningham, whose parents are from Coledale.
The Sydney-based curator calls Carriageworks home, but has spent two years putting together this exhibition- where he’s called on eight contemporary artists to prepare a response to TV- which he says is now (frighteningly) a little bit retro!
“All of the artists are 40 and younger, so I have asked them to create works that reflect their version of television- and take us back to when everyone used to sit together to watch the same shows at the same time.”
UOW art lecturer Giselle Stanborough is featured in the exhibit. She’s created a parody application for The Bachelor, filmed at Stanwell Park and Thirroul. This application is concurrently given the Gogglebox treatment by Di and Mick, with their feedback being played on a nearby screen.
There are soft-sculptures and video presentations among the works – all on display until the end of February.
