Knitting is now, not only an environmentally friendly, kitschy hobby, it’s also an activity that can assist those in need and raise awareness, about social in-justice and those living below the poverty line.
Wrap With Love inc was established in 1992, a charity that provides wraps and blankets to under privileged counties. Over the past 20 years these hardworking individuals have knitted over 300,000 wraps to over 75 countries.
With Millions of People around the world suffering from extreme cold, without adequate shelter and no electricity, the comfort of a woollen blanket is priceless and especially when there is love knitted in the stitches.
Wrap with love is a non profit organisation, run entirely on volunteers – their motto is,
‘Cold humanity is our concern, people caring about other people’
and that’s exactly what these amazing volunteers do… care about making the world that little bit warmer.
The Thirroul Library Management and Thirroul C3 Church’s, Women’s Ministry Team, have organised a..
KNIT-IN
to be held at the library on
Saturday 15th June, 2013.
9.30am to 1.00pm.
The event is being held, to support the organisation Wrapped with Love.
“Please come along and enjoy a morning of knitting (or crocheting) or whatever it is you fancy, and contribute to this wonderful cause.” said Carol McLean from the Thirroul C3 Church, “We aim to make as many 25 x 25cm (10 x 10 inch) squares as possible, in the time available. Please bring size 8 (4mm) knitting needles and 8ply wool.”
If you can’t make the morning, finished squares can be dropped off at the Thirroul Library.
