Thirroul Neighbourhood Centre has created a photographic story exhibition showcasing a diverse collection of people in the 2515 community. This event is intended to familiarise the community with others they may recognise, and get to “Know Thy Neighbour”. A range of volunteers from around the region have contributed to this project with the aim to make our neighbourhood aware of the diversity and community spirit.
Know Thy Neighbour will portray photographs and written stories of residents who live in Austinmer, Clifton, Coledale, Scarborough, Thirroul and Wombarra. Some members involved in the exhibition include; Paul Ryan, a well-recognised Archibald Prize winner, Tanya Davis, the coordinator of Montessori School in Thirroul, Phillip Jones, The creator of ‘The Gift’ a locally arranged and annually run charity event, plus many more.
The exhibition will be shown on the 15th of November at Thirroul Railway Institute Preservation Society Heritage Hall (next to Thirroul train station). The event will run from 6pm until 8pm. All members of the community are welcome to attend the event. We will be providing refreshments and live music, as well as a community art project which will form part of a mural due for installation later this year in Thirroul also being coordinated by Thirroul Neighbourhood Centre. A book will also be created based on the photographs and stories at the exhibition, which will be available to pre-order on the night.
