There’s this famous Fish Market in Seattle – and for those of you who haven’t heard about it, please do yourself a favour & look it up! It all started with the right attitude… Something like “if you gotta do it, you may as well have fun with it!”
How true! How amazing! How simple – and YOUR choice! It’s all about choice, right? Everything in life is choice. Sometimes people are struggling with this thought, but once they understand this, everything starts making more and more sense and is becoming a whole lot more empowering!
Now, back to those guys at the “Pike Place Fish Market” in Seattle. This “Fish! Philosophy” has spread all over the world and is based on 4 simple rules that I’d like to share here:
- Choose your attitude (as mentioned before)
- Be there – all about being really present when interacting with people
- Make their day – consciously make an effort to leave a special impression
- Have fun!
Now all 4 of these are pretty important when it comes to changing your game, but the last one I’d like to elaborate on a little bit more. When I work with my clients one on one, I always get them to think about how they can have more fun in life.
I actually get them to write a list of things that they really enjoy – and then go out & do at least 1 of them each week. But this also goes for your work place – how can you do things differently to make it more fun? It doesn’t matter how big or small your company is. Actively brainstorm, make a list & start implementing. Work is such a huge part of (most) our lives, you may as well have fun with it.
Once you’re done with that, why not try it in your family too? There are always things to improve – how to make the daily morning routine more fun, cleaning up, folding clothes, household, gardening, homework with kids, the list is endless… Get the creative juices flowing!
I’m also implementing those 4 simple strategies into my “THINK BUSINESS CLASS”. I want people to enJOY what they’re doing. And it all starts with YOUR choice.
Which attitude are YOU choosing today?
