Labor has announced a refurbishment of Rex Jackson Park at Helensburgh- if they’re successful at next month’s state election.
They’ll spend $200,000 to improve lighting, saying Helensburgh Tigers officials believe poor lighting is responsible for player injuries at night-time training sessions.
The money will come from Labor’s $100 million Regional Community Catch-Up Fund.
Local Labor Candidate, Maryanne Stuart says the Tigers will have safe grounds to run out on under Labor.
“If we’re going to keep turning out great Illawarra athletes, we need to make sure we have real local investment in the facilities they train on.”
Labor’s commitment to upgrade the lights at Rex Jackson Parks follows the NSW Liberals decision to exclude Helensburgh from recent pools of sports grants.
