Lee Evans Member for Heathcote today welcomed three projects in the Heathcote Electorate which have been shortlisted for funding under the Restart NSW Illawarra Infrastructure Fund.
The shortlisted projects in the Heathcote electorate are:
- Bulli Hospital – Centre of Excellence for Aged Care
- Bald Hill Improvement Project
- Grand Pacific Walk – Stage 1 Royal National Park to Lake Illawarra
Mr Evans MP said the shortlist follows consultation with the Local Leaders Group and the community to improve the Illawarra area through innovative projects.
An Assessment Panel, including Infrastructure NSW, NSW Treasury, NSW Office of Finance and three community representatives, made an initial assessment of Expressions of Interest, then made recommendations to Infrastructure NSW.
“The next step will include inviting detailed applications and community views to determine which projects are successful.
“The full shortlist includes projects in the Local Government Areas of Wollongong, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven, Kiama and Wingecarribee.
“I am excited to see these three diverse projects shortlisted under the Restart NSW Illawarra Infrastructure Fund.
“A centre for Aged Care at Bulli Hospital would take the pressure off many resources which already provide for our aging population. The Bald Hills Improvement Project and Grand Pacific Walk are both excellent environmental initiatives to keep our area beautiful and to allow our community to protect and enjoy our state’s fauna and flora,” Mr Evans MP said.
Successful projects will be announced in late 2013.
