The Northern Illawarra is leading the charge when it comes to lifesaving, with members of two local clubs named Surf Lifesaving Illawarra male and female Junior Life Savers Of The Year.
Scarborough Wombarra’s Sean Ritter took out the male category with Helensburgh Stanwell Park’s Ava Rushton named female junior Lifesaver of the Year.
The competition is open to all 14 year old life savers in the Illawarra region.
It’s no mean feat considering Surf Life Saving Illawarra has 9000 members in the 17 clubs between Helensburgh-Stanwell Park and Windang.
The local teens will now take part in a four-day Surf Lifesaving NSW camp which puts them in the running to be named State Junior Lifesaver of the Year.
