Austinmer Public School is to be air conditioned under the first round of the State Government’s new Cooler Classrooms program.
More than 900 schools across the state are to have air conditioning installed in classrooms and libraries- with solar panels to help offset the environmental and financial costs.
The $500 million program is the largest investment of its kind in the state’s history.
First cabs off the rank are schools in areas where the average monthly temperature is above 30 degrees.
Applications for the second round of installations open on the first day of term next year.
