Two men will face Wollongong Court today after police found a man leaving the scene of an alleged break and enter at Thirroul.
About 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 30 June 2020), officers from Wollongong Police were patrolling Station Street when they located a stolen Hyundai Getz hatchback parked in the street.
Police say a man was seen leaving the front yard of a house in Station Street and entering the Hyundai. Officers approached the man – searching both him and the car – and located property they believed to be stolen.
The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.
Police continued to search the street when they noticed a second man on a bicycle leaving another house. The 18-year-old man attempted to ride away from police and was arrested.
Further inquiries revealed two other houses in the area had been broken into – including one belonging to a 97-year-old woman.
Both men have been charged with break and enter and aggravated break and enter. The 23-year-old man was also charged with drive conveyance taken without consent.
