Good news. The Golf Driving Range and Putt Putt in Helensburgh is to remain!
This follows the lodgement of a Development Application with Wollongong Council to build a caravan park on land at 2 Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
The park will be for short-stay accommodation only and will nestle around the existing golfing facility.
Driving Range owner Neville Bussa has lodged the DA, saying its been part of their long-term plan.
“My wife Lisa and I have owned this land since 1998 and have always wanted to build a holiday park here. Now is a great time to get that started,” he says. “The land is already zoned for it, so we are working within exiting Council guidelines.”
At this stage no plans have been lodged to build a pool in the park but Neville has not ruled out the idea.
“We’ll get started on the park as soon as the DA is approved. A pool isn’t part of stage one, but we haven’t ruled it out. We just didn’t put it in this application.”
And Neville says in the meantime, he’ll be keeping busy.
“It could take nine months to get this through Council. In the meantime I will keep busy by refurbishing our Putt Putt course!”
