The good news is, work will begin shortly on rehabilitation of the 40 year old tip.
Council has currently put management of the job out to tender with work set start in June and run through until the end of the year.
The idea is to re-work the slope of the land and do a bit of levelling. They’ll then bring in fill to line and seal-in the mountains of waste.
While that’s going on, people who live near the tip will probably notice it’s a bit smelly at times as the waste is dug up and moved around…..but council says they’ll cover it with clean soil at the end of every day.
There may also be some dust, and of course, increased heavy vehicle traffic through Helensburgh while the work is carried out.
