The Thirroul-based Neighbourhood Forum 3 is getting things done for the Northern Illawarra.
The group meets monthly at the Thirroul Community Centre to discuss issues of concern and take the matters back to Wollongong Council.
Since last month, the group has alerted council to several matters in need of attention, which have mostly been rectified by Council staff.
Loose and potentially dangerous concrete has been removed from between the ocean pools at Austinmer, signs have been erected following an increase in the number of illegal campers at Austi beach, and graffiti has been promptly removed from the dressing sheds.
Concerns remain however for flood mitigation works on Mt Gilead Rd and Fords Rd at Thirroul. Local residents fear for their properties, saying Council has promised for 55 years to install kerb and drainage- and they’re still waiting!
Council says the areas are on their priority list and localised drainage works are on the action list for 2017-18
